I am 49, with sandy blonde/reddish brown hair, bifocals, 235 lbs. [but carry it extremely well, as I tell anyone
who will listen :) *smile* ], 5'10" I live in North central Illinois.
I consider myself sensitive, yet creative. Physically strong, sometimes I used to push people away emotionally a lot,
for getting too close, though I am learning to do much better. I am more of a hugger than I used to be, certainly when the
other person is as comfortable with it as I am. My interests are most types of music, EXCEPT for rap, country, modern
rock, pop, etc. My main interest is in reading the Bible, and other inspirational/motivational material from time to time.
I enjoy science fiction, on TV and the movies. I also like the well-executed blending of sci-fi and action, or just a
good action comedy in general. I also like the occasional emotional release of a good tearjerker, such as movies with
kids or animals. I am happy and proud to be a man, so I don't really care for any kind of material where men are regularly
put down, used, degraded,to appease certain types of women, all in the name of equality or empowerment. This type of behavior
is overcompensating, and any woman, or anyone else, who engages in it, obviously doesn't consider themselves equal or empowered.
I have been said to be a shy person and a loner, but in reality, I think of myself as friendly but quiet. Nothing
wrong with that, is there? *smile* I am also a Christian man who believes in the tried and true values of my faith.
As far as I can tell, I don't expect anyone to always agree with my beliefs, but I would prefer that they be respected.
I can't force anyone to show respect, but anyone who can't or won't, is probably not going to be someone I will laugh
and joke with, spend a lot of time with, or consider a friend.
It has long been a dream of mine to feel the arms of a special female someone wrap around me, and tell me
things like," I am glad to know you," " I am glad to have you in my life", "I am glad to have you for a friend" and yes, even,
"I love you," either as a friend or a lot more. Yes, I do believe a man and a woman have to be friends first. If not friends,
then how is the relationship going to be anything solid or long-term? That is my belief. Although, I am not saying that is
always easy. After all, are men and women going to be friends in the same way that men are with other men? Not necessarily,
I think.
Another thing I m proud of is my conservatism. Ordinary, everyday America did change on September 11, 2001. That
is the day that we not only realized that, yes, we are vulnerable to terrorist attack, but we also learned that same day people
who consider themselves average, can and do rise up and face seemingly impossible odds, even at the risk, and sometimes the
cost, of their own lives. While we may enjoy the frequent Hollywood offering depicting heroism, I think we have found, perhaps
for the first time, that REAL people can be REAL heroes, and we don't need the Hollywood left, or even the
mainstream liberal media, to tell us how to think and feel. And I think they are realizing it too, and it must surely frighten
them.
In the past, we have taken their condescension and contempt to heart. But when one realizes the
utter hypocrisy of the rich and powerful liberals in our country, how they push for laws and social change, that they appear
to want to exempt themselves from, one can also surely see that we simply do not need them anymore, if we ever really needed
them in the first place.
There ARE dangers ahead, and perhaps there always have been, and always will be. But now we realize that,
as Americans, we can face them with a firm resolve and a faith in the Almighty.
To paraphrase what Dickens said:
These are the worst, and the best, of times.
